A DVI to VGA cable, male to male: connect a DVI-I or DVI-A source to a VGA monitor or projector, supporting SVGA through WXGA, up to 20 m in length.
- Description
A cable that carries an analogue VGA signal out of a DVI socket: DVI male on one end, VGA male on the other, so a PC or workstation with a DVI-I output can drive a VGA monitor, projector or switch. It supports the common VGA modes — VGA, SVGA, WSVGA, XGA and WXGA — with 4.95 Gbps bandwidth.
The build is a proper moulded cable rather than a thin adapter: HDPE insulation, aluminium-foil and braid shielding, and a jacket in PVC with an optional nylon net for a tougher run. Connectors come nickel-plated or 24K gold, and the outer diameter is available from 5.5 mm to 8.0 mm.

The one thing that decides whether this cable works: DVI comes in analogue and digital pinouts, and a passive DVI-to-VGA cable can only pass the analogue signal. The source must be DVI-I (integrated, analogue plus digital) or DVI-A (analogue only). A DVI-D source, which is digital-only, cannot drive a VGA display through this cable — that needs an active converter. Tell us the source’s DVI type and we will confirm the right part.
