A 21-pin SCART lead with a male plug at each end, for connecting DVD players and other multimedia equipment where the signal has to pass at full quality. The cable is built to maximise signal transfer for the best possible sound and picture.

Two practical points. A SCART lead is directional in some installations — the 21-pin standard carries audio, video and control signals, and not every device expects them on the same pins — so if a picture does not appear, check the TV’s input setting before assuming the cable is faulty. And copper or CCS changes the cost and the flexibility of the lead; tell us which you prefer.

Typical applications

  • Set-top boxes and multimedia equipment
  • Retail and OEM SCART leads

FAQ

Is the SCART cable directional?
It is a straight wired lead, so either end can go to either device; if the TV shows no picture, check the TV input and the source’s SCART output setting first.

Gold or nickel plugs?
Both are available — gold resists corrosion better over time; nickel costs less.
