2-Port USB 2.0 Active Extension Cable, 5 m with DC Jack

A passive cable gives up before five metres; this repeater does not. Inside the mid-craft electronics regenerate the USB 2.0 signal, and the far end offers two working ports instead of one — a camera on one, a keyboard on the other, or a webcam and a printer shared to the far side of the room. Self-powered operation covers cameras, printers, webcams and keyboard/mouse duties without any adapter.

The DC jack is the thoughtful part: devices that need much power — USB HDDs and high-power WiFi networking equipment among them — get supplemental current from the optional adapter instead of browning out the bus. An LED indicator gives easy status monitoring, so you can see link state at the far end without walking back. System support runs Windows 98/98SE/2000/ME/XP/Vista and Mac OS 8.6 or later. Two ports at the far end is the quiet advantage over single-port repeaters: one long run serves two devices, which halves the cable count on any desk where both are needed.
