A printer cable that puts an older printer onto a modern computer: a USB plug on the host side and a DB26 connector on the printer side, built for dot-matrix printers, older laser printers and uni-directional Centronics peripherals.

It is the practical way to keep legacy printers in service once the machine that drove them through a parallel port has gone. The cable is assembled to order, so the pinout, shell and length are matched to your printer rather than to a generic standard.

A caution worth reading before you order. A standard PC parallel port is DB25 and the standard printer connector is 36-pin Centronics; DB26 is an unusual connector and is not interchangeable with either. Tell us the exact connector on your printer — or send a photo — and we will build the correct lead rather than ship a cable that will not fit.

Typical applications

  • Running a legacy dot-matrix printer from a USB-only PC
  • Keeping older office or receipt printers alive
  • Custom printer and peripheral interfaces

Custom and OEM options

Connector type, cable length, jacket colour, printed logo and retail packaging with your own artwork can all be specified. Standard items from 100 pcs, custom builds from 500 pcs, free samples, production in 20–25 working days.

FAQ

Is DB26 the same as a standard printer port?
No. A PC parallel port is normally DB25 and the printer end is a 36-pin Centronics connector. Confirm your printer’s connector before ordering.

Can you build a different pinout?
Yes. Pin assignment, shell and cable length are made to order.
