Mini DisplayPort to DVI Female Adapter Cable

A Mini DisplayPort adapter for displays that use DVI. The Mini DP plug goes into the MacBook, MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, and the DVI-I dual-link female socket accepts a standard DVI monitor cable — handy when the display lead is already fixed in place.

Signal quality is carried by 12-bit deep colour and 2.25 Gbps per channel, and the adapter draws its power from the Mini DisplayPort source, so it works without a charger or software.

Key features

• Mini DisplayPort male to DVI-I dual-link female

Specifications

DVI carries video only, so route audio separately if needed. For a VGA display, choose the Mini DP-to-VGA model; for HDMI, choose the Mini DP-to-HDMI adapter. This item is the DVI-female build, distinguished from its sibling by the socket on the output end, which lets you reuse a DVI cable you already own.

Typical applications

• MacBook to a DVI monitor with an existing cable
• Studio and office desks with fixed DVI leads
• Projector rooms wired for DVI

Custom and OEM options

FAQ

How does this differ from the other Mini DP-to-DVI cable?
Both convert Mini DP to DVI-I dual-link; this build ends in a DVI female socket so an existing DVI cable can be reused.

Does it pass audio?
No. DVI carries video only.
