USB 3.0 Y Cable, AM to 3.0AF + 2.0AF

$3.00 – $6.00 / pc · MOQ 500 pcs

Splits one USB-A port into a USB 3.0 socket for data and a second 2.0 socket for supplementary power — the Y cable that gets portable drives running on weak ports.

SKU: CTC4177 Category: Tags: , ,

This Y cable splits a single USB-A port into two sockets: one USB 3.0 female for the device, and one USB 2.0 female whose job is power. It exists for the classic failure on external drives and TV tuners — the device works on a powered hub or a desktop tower but stalls on a laptop or TV port that cannot supply enough current. Plugging the second leg into any spare USB socket adds the missing amps, and the drive spins up.

The main leg is a full USB 3.0 connection, so a compliant device transfers at up to 5 Gbps; the auxiliary leg is USB 2.0 because it only needs to carry power on most installs. Both female sockets accept standard USB-A plugs, and the cable is backward compatible end to end with USB 2.0 systems. Length and jacket colour are production options.

FAQ

Can I use the second leg for a second device?
It will carry data on some hosts, but it is wired and intended as a power supplement. Treat it as power, not as a port.

Does it slow my USB 3.0 drive down?
No. Data runs on the 3.0 leg at full speed; the 2.0 leg contributes current, not data.
