FTDI USB to RS232 Serial Converter, Gold Plated

A high-quality, high-performance bi-directional USB to RS232 converter in the 9-pin format. It converts a standard full-duplex USB port to an RS232 signal in either direction, and the FTDI chipset gives it wide compatibility across computer systems and operating systems.

It is powered from the USB port and needs no external supply, with data-direction auto-turnaround removing the need for flow control. The 1.8 m cable gives useful reach across a desk, and the connectors are gold-plated for a stable, corrosion-resistant connection. Drivers are included, and the latest FTDI chipset covers Windows, Server editions, Win CE, Mac and Linux.

Specifications

Two notes. The factory sheet describes the USB side as a Type-A female connector, which is unusual for a host cable; we supply the standard USB-A plug — confirm on the quote if you specifically need a socket. And this is the long-cable, gold-plated build in a family that also includes a shorter version; pick the length that suits your bench or desk.
