VGA to HDMI Converter Adapter 1080P with Audio

An active converter that turns an analogue VGA desktop into a digital HDMI source. Feed the VGA (D-Sub) output of a PC into one side, add the stereo audio on the 3.5mm socket, and the HDMI Type-A output drives a modern plasma, LCD, LED or DLP TV, monitor or projector.

A built-in scaler handles the format change and the colour-space conversion automatically, so the display sees a clean digital signal at up to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz. Nothing to install: connect it, power it from the Mini USB socket, and it works.

Key features

• Inputs: 1 x VGA, 1 x 3.5mm audio, 1 x Mini USB (DC 5V)
• Output: 1 x HDMI Type A
• Resolution up to 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz
• HDMI 1.3 compliant; automatic colour-space conversion
• Embeds L/R analogue stereo into the HDMI signal
• Plug and play; 10.2 Gbps bandwidth; plastic housing

Specifications

Because VGA cannot carry audio, the sound travels on the separate 3.5mm lead — plug the computer’s line-out into the adapter and the TV or amplifier receives both picture and sound. The converter needs its 5V Mini USB feed to run the scaler; a phone charger socket beside the TV is usually enough.

Typical applications

• Putting an older office PC onto a modern HDMI display
• Classroom and meeting-room projectors fed from a VGA laptop
• Home setups mixing a legacy VGA source with new AV equipment
