FTDI USB TTL Serial Cable, 2.5mm Jack, 3.3V/5V

$3.00 – $8.00 / pc · MOQ 500 pcs

USB-to-TTL serial cable that brings the UART out on a 2.5mm audio jack instead of flying leads — tip TxD, ring RxD, sleeve GND — at 3.3 V or 5 V.

SKU: CTC204 Category: Tag:

This cable puts a USB-to-TTL serial interface at the end of a 2.5mm audio jack, which is the console connection used by many routers, switches, set-top boxes and embedded boards. Instead of six flying leads, the UART arrives on a small jack that plugs straight into the console port on the device.

The wiring follows the usual convention — tip to TxD, ring to RxD, sleeve to ground — and the cable carries 3.3 V or 5 V signalling, so it can be matched to the logic level of the target board. The interface is built on an FTDI chipset, which means the host computer sees a standard serial port with no special software beyond the usual virtual COM port driver. If your device uses a different pin order or a different jack size, tell us and we will rewire it.

Typical applications

  • Console access to routers, switches and firewalls
  • Embedded boards, single-board computers and dev kits
  • Set-top boxes and network appliances
  • Firmware recovery where the console port is a 2.5mm jack

Custom and OEM options

Jack size, pin order, logic level, cable length and connector finish are set by the order, and the same interface can be supplied with flying leads or a different connector. Stock builds start from 100 pcs per model and custom wiring from 500 pcs.

FAQ

Do I need to install a driver?
The FTDI chipset is widely supported; most systems recognise it and add a virtual COM port with the standard driver.

Can the pin order be changed?
Yes. Send us the pinout you need and we will build it.
