USB Type-C to SATA Adapter Cable, 20 cm

An adapter for the laptop that has only Type-C ports. The reversible Type-C plug goes into the machine, the SATA combo connector onto a bare 2.5-inch drive or SSD, and the drive appears as external storage over USB 3.1 — no enclosure, no separate power for a 2.5-inch disk.

The SATA end is the 7+15 pin data-and-power combo receptacle, so a standard 2.5-inch drive connects directly. At 20 cm it is short and tidy, trim enough to slip into a laptop bag beside the drive.

Two notes. It is intended for 2.5-inch drives, which draw power from the SATA connector over USB; a 3.5-inch drive needs a 12V supply and a different adapter. And like any new drive, a fresh disk must be partitioned and formatted before the operating system will use it.
