OBD2 to Mini USB Step-Down Power Cable, 5 V 15 W

The OBD2 port is the one always-live, always-fused socket under the dash — which makes it the honest power source for dashcams, DVRs and GPS units. This step-down cable draws from it at 8-36 V (12 V cars and 24 V trucks alike) and regulates a clean 5 V to a mini 5-pin output, 15 W class, at up to 96% conversion efficiency and roughly 15-18 mA static draw when the device idles.

It is protected like industrial kit because the install is permanent: short-circuit, overcurrent and overtemperature protection, automatic power-off below 11.6 V to guard the starter battery, input reverse-polarity tolerance for mistaken wiring, and an industrial-grade -40 to +85 °C operating range. The 3.5 m run reaches from the pedal box up the windscreen to the mirror mount with slack to dress.

FAQ

Will it drain the battery?
The low-voltage cutoff powers off below 11.6 V; static draw is milliwatts. For long airport parking, unplug as you would any always-on accessory.
