USB 3.0 to SATA 7+15 Pin Adapter Cable

An adapter for the standard 22-pin SATA connector (7 data plus 15 power pins) found on 2.5-inch drives. Plug the SATA end onto the bare drive, the USB 3.0 end into the computer, and the drive appears as removable storage — no enclosure, no screws.

It moves data at up to 5 Gbps over USB 3.0 and works on USB 2.0 ports at the lower rate. It is the quick way to read a drive pulled from a laptop, clone one SSD to another, or use a spare disk as external storage.

This cable is designed for 2.5-inch drives, which draw their power from the SATA connector over USB; a 3.5-inch drive needs a 12V supply and is better served by the adapter-cable model with its own power unit. And a brand-new drive must be partitioned and formatted before it shows up as usable storage.
