An adapter with a USB 2.0 A female socket on one side and a USB 3.1 Type-C male plug on the other. It puts a full-size USB-A socket back onto a tablet, laptop or phone that has only a Type-C port, so a flash drive, mouse, keyboard or card reader can be plugged in without carrying a dock.
The data path runs at USB 2.0 rates and is backward compatible with USB 1.0 and 1.1 devices, which is what most mice, keyboards and older drives need. For high-speed external storage, choose the USB 3.0 version instead — tell us the device and we will recommend the right one.

Will it work with an external SSD?
It will connect, but the data rate is limited to USB 2.0. Use the USB 3.0 version for external storage.
Does it carry video?
No. This is a USB data adapter; video needs a dedicated DisplayPort or HDMI adapter.
