USB to RJ45 Console Cable for Cisco Routers

This cable connects a laptop straight to the console port of a Cisco router or switch. One end is USB, the other an RJ45 with the Cisco serial pinout, and inside there is an FTDI FT232 with an RS232 level shifter, so the equipment sees a genuine RS232 signal rather than a TTL one.

The 1.8 m length is enough to reach equipment in a rack from a laptop on the floor, and the RJ45 end can be adapted to DB9 with a standard RJ45-to-DB9 adapter when a device needs it.

Does it work with non-Cisco equipment?
It works with any device that uses the same RJ45 console pinout. For a different pinout, an adapter or a custom build is needed.

Do I need a driver?
Windows, macOS and Linux recognise the FTDI chip; if not, install the FTDI VCP driver.
