USB ELM327 OBD2 Scanner Tool for PC and Laptop

The USB ELM327 is the original PC-based scan tool: the OBD2 end goes in the car, the USB end goes into a laptop, and the diagnostic session happens on a screen big enough to show freeze frames, sensor graphs and code definitions side by side. The processor is an ELM327 speaking every mainstream OBD-II protocol — CAN, KWP2000, ISO 9141-2 and both J1850 variants — and the laptop connection runs at 9600 or 38400 baud as your software prefers.

Electricals follow the family standard: 12 V from the vehicle with internal protection against short circuits and overvoltage, and 45 mA nominal idle current. Software support is deliberately broad — the tool ships compatible with DOS and Windows programs, and the free-software ecosystem around ELM327 hardware is deep: ScanMaster, pyOBD for macOS and Linux, OBD Gauge for PalmOS and Pocket PC, RDDTC, Real Scan and more. Installation is genuinely portable — extract the files into a folder and run; to remove it, delete the folder. No driver archaeology, no registry edits.
