The black shell is the low-visibility member of the mini-box family: same 4.7 × 3.2 × 2.3 cm, 22 g body, same protected electronics, and it simply looks like it belongs under a dash. Pair from an Android smartphone (Bluetooth password 1234), open Easy OBD2, ScanMaster ELM or wOBD Crazy, and the scanner set runs as expected — generic and manufacturer-specific trouble codes read and explained, check-engine light reset, and live data streaming: RPM, calculated load, coolant temperature, fuel system status, vehicle speed, short- and long-term fuel trim, intake manifold pressure, timing advance, intake air temperature, air flow rate, throttle position and oxygen sensor voltages.

Electrically it is the reason this family exists: 12 V input with internal short-circuit and overvoltage protection, and a 45 mA nominal idle current that tolerates being left in the port between errands. The honest boundaries travel with the family: no iOS — iPhone users take the WIFI or Bluetooth 4.0 versions; the adapter does not support every protocol, so confirm your car model before ordering; and the unit reports engine status — repairs are still a human’s job.
