USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE Adapter Cable with Power Supply

A bridge between a computer and almost any internal drive. The adapter implements a link from the USB port to a single SATA, ATA or ATAPI mass-storage device, so a bare IDE or SATA drive becomes a convenient external disk — the tool for backing up files, moving an archive off an old machine, or reading a drive whose computer has died.

The Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface is plug and play, and the adapter supports all existing IDE/ATAPI devices: CD-ROM, CD-RW and DVD-ROM drives as well as 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch IDE and SATA hard disks. A power adapter is included to feed the 5V/12V requirements of IDE and ATAPI devices.

Specifications

Two notes. It is a USB 2.0 device, so transfers run at up to 480 Mbps — fine for documents and drive recovery, slower than a USB 3.0 adapter for very large volumes. And keep the power adapter connected: IDE and 3.5-inch drives draw more than the USB port can supply.
